Internships

The British High Commission Yaounde (BHC Yaounde) is also now accepting applications for a batch of four interns. We are looking for a student with interest and ability in political and communication work. The duration of the internship is three months within the period April 2017 – March 2018.

Key tasks include political research, media monitoring, digital communication, events management support and customer handling. Applicants should be familiar with Cameroon's political issues and be able to produce high quality work.

Application procedure

Applications must be accompanied by documentary evidence (i.e. a letter of confirmation from a university) of continuing matriculation, an up-to-date curriculum vitae and an essay in English (400-500 words) outlining the applicant's motivation for doing an internship. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Only those applicants who are successful will be contacted.

Eligibility and conditions

The applicant holds a first university degree (or the equivalent) and is enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (working towards a second university degree or higher) at the time of application. Undergraduates who have not completed at least three years of full-time studies and those graduates with a higher degree who have already completed all of their studies are not eligible to participate in the internship programme. Students having completed in-class studies who are required under their degree programme to complete a certain amount of internship time before obtaining their final diploma may be accepted.

Languages required

Applicants must have a high standard of English language. Fluency in French is also essential and will be tested.

Fields of study

Fields of study include social and political sciences, economics, communication, media, international relations and law. A degree in any other field with strong evidence of interest in political communications will also be considered.
