Job Advert for the Position of (01) Security Referent - South – West

Main objectives

The Security Referent is in charge of setting and putting in place a strategy of security management in the Anglophone area, in compliance with all the other INTERSOS policies. This also means to make and update security analysis and documents of the Anglophone region.

Responsabilities

  1. Analysis of the security situation of the area:
  • To collect, analyze and circulate the information related to security,
  • To create and maintain a network of national and international actors for collecting information regularly,
  • To take part in the meetings dealing with the evolution of the security context in the areas where INTERSOS operates,

  1. Contribute to the supervision and implementation of security procedures within the bases
  • In collaboration with the Project Manager/Log Coord/Head of Mission, to assess the degree of implementation of INTERSOS security plans,
  • To participate in the implementation and revision of tools and procedures related to the security management and take part in the use of these tools with all the other colleagues in the field
  • Crisis management :
  • To contribute to the collection and management of incidents in the event of serious crisis that could affect the security of staff, material and projects,
  • To support the PM in making decisions about (and implement) action plans set together with the Log Coord and the Head of Mission
  1. Reporting and capitalization
  • To compile on a weekly basis all the security incidents in the database and send them to the Logistics Coordinator, the Head of Mission and the Project Manager,
  • To ensure the flow and analysis of these information toward the colleagues in the field and the community actors within the area of intervention,
  • After field visits, to write the mission reports specifying recommendations
  • To write a handover report and send it to the Head of Base and Head of Mission at the end of the mission
  • To work in collaboration with the PMs and the coordination team in Yaoundé in order to prepare the SOP for the trips of the staff during the project activities, a provisional contingency plan,
  • To actively participate in setting the strategy of humanitarian intervention in order to allow INTERSOS staff in the field to address beneficiaries safely,

Experience

  • Solid experience in the field in the security management for an ONG: evaluation, planning, implementation of procedures and opening of bases
  • Work experience in contexts characterised by volatile security

Language

  • Fluent English and French, knowledge of local language is considered an asset
